FASD Awareness Month 2017

NOFAS and other organizations are now planning activities for September 2017.

We hope you will join NOFAS, the 33 member organizations of the NOFAS Affiliate Network, federal agencies, and countless others this September to prevent FASD.

September of 2015 was the first annual FASD Awareness Month, and it was an enormous success!

Thank you for joining the effort to raise awareness about the risks associated with prenatal alcohol exposure and to prevent the occurrence of FASD.

FASD Awareness Month is a permanent expansion of FASD Awareness Day, observed each year since 1999.

Follow the links below to do your part, and pass it on, “Alcohol and pregnancy: No safe amount; No safe time; No safe alcohol. Period.”

Art Contest!

To enter the FASD Month art contest: submit an image, such as a photo or artwork, of “What FASD means to me” with the idea of portraying the reality of how people and families living with FASD have a wide variety of perspectives, and to challenge the assumption that FASD only looks one way. More information here.

Fact of the Day Campaign

Each day in September, an FASD-related fact will be posted on social media by NOFAS and others, and everyone is encouraged to share these facts. Facts will cover various facets of FASD, including pediatrics, prevention, addiction, adults with FASD, education, and public health. Some facts will be targeted towards specific health-care professionals, including nurses, social workers, medical assistants, ObGyns, pediatricians, and family medicine doctors.
